January has been such a hectic month for me, and while I had planned about 9 blog posts, I basically only published half of them. I have been running around for the past month and my body is just starting to recover. I am finally ready to share my adventures with y’all and I should probably start by a little trend report of the Salon International de la lingerie.

I am going to be honest, I am not interested in doing brand by brand report anymore as this is time consuming and draining. But I really want to discuss my first experience at the Salon International de la lingerie (SIL). You guys know I usually visit Curve NY every summer but this year I was lucky enough to fly to Paris and enjoy their big show.

The theme of this season is “Fall in love with yourself“. Clearly the industry is catching up with the fact that women and everybody who wears lingerie want to feel comfortable in their body. This is something crucial and we’ve been waiting for it for a long time. However, the idea and the execution weren’t completely in phase with each other. I will explain that point later. For the moment, let’s focus on the nice trends I have noticed this year!

I- Earth tones

This was one of my favorite trends. Ochre, yellow, brown colorways are really present this season and it felt like a return to nature and nudity. Sadly many brands still called their beige bras nude. I think it’s really sad that the only time some brands make brown or warm beige bras is when these colors are en vogue. But anyway, I loved these regal and warm colorways. I have been into them for a few years now so it’s amazing to see them getting popular!! My favorite was probably the new Empreinte Carmen in the Havane colorway. It would be a great nude for me but is also an incredible set with beautiful detailing even on the band.

II- Comforting grey and ice blue

A light ethereal grey is in trend this season and I am all for it. Grey is such a versatile color. It’s elegant but also discreet, easy to wear and to match. I love that it can be sporty or dainty, romantic or just casual. As for the icy blue, it feels like a sunny winter day and works perfectly for this season.

III- Black and dark blue

So, I don’t know how it is in North America, but in France when I was growing up, I heard a lot of ladies claiming that dark blue and black can’t be worn together. I always disagreed and finally there is a trend that agree with my disagreement. Ahaha! ( I am petty like that, yes.)
This combination was present in every new collection this season, and I think it’s for the best especially with these elegant shades of blue.

IV Figue purple, raspberry pink and splash of neon

Raspberry is one of my favorite fruits and I love love love this color in lingerie. It works for any season really. So glamorous and girly. I am so glad I got to see this Aubade x Viktor and Rolf collaboration in person. It was not disappointing. The embroidery techniques is amazing, using lazer cut fabric embroidered on tulle. I think I need this set in my life. Adina Reay keeps serving us gorgeous illusion mesh and I love this new suspender skirt. I just love to see more and more fashion options for fuller busts. Now I loved to see this trend interpretation by many different brands, with core size, plus size and full bust size range.

I have many things to say about these new styles but I guess this will wait for another post. I really enjoyed these winter/fall 2019 colorways but also new technics and fashion elements. Lurex thread and wax embroidery were very present this season as well… Stay tuned for my next article!

Yours truly,
Wen

  1. Inexplicably, I had been oblivious to the presentations of the Salon International de la Lingerie up until now. The lingerie sets you featured here look beautiful, and I love the range of available colours in the AW2019 collections. The lingerie sets look pretty.
