Summer is finally showing up in Montreal, so I think this post is quite appropriate. I am a bit tired of reviews, to be honest, so it was time to do something different.
I reviewed the Empreinte Ashley collection a few months ago but I thought this top could definitely work outside the bedroom. If you don’t mind the sheerness and minimal bust coverage, this piece is quite easy to style.

[ I received this top as a gift from Empreinte lingerie. All thoughts and opinions are my own.]
The Ashley top is part of Empreinte 2018-2019 holiday collection and now comes in a white colorway called “Jardin d’été” (Summer garden) for SS19. What truly “sold” this top for me, was the amazing waxed embroidery at the back.
Very often, I fall in love with a lace pattern or embroidery and I feel like I need more of it. I need it to be seen. I love the amount of embroidery featured on this top. The fact that it is at the back makes it look like a beautiful painting.
At the front, the opaque part of the top covers the breasts quite enough to wear a strapless bra underneath. I am wearing the Fantasie smoothing in size 30G, but it is too big for me at the moment and I think I could do with a 30FF. This size would probably work better for this top as well. Depending on your breast size, the Ashley top might not cover your bra entirely.

Styling

I love the choice of lace for this piece. It has kind of a tropical aesthetic and reminds me of palm tree leaves. I chose to wear high waist pants because it balances the sheerness of this rather revealing top. The pants are from Frank and Oak SS18 collection so they aren’t available anymore. However, they tend to make older styles available again if they’ve been popular.

This pair is made of Tencel and linen. Because of that it gets wrinkles super easily but is also light and breathable. I am wearing a size 4 but the waist is rather big for me, so it wouldn’t stay up without a belt.

Funny story, I forgot to bring a belt when I packed my clothes and had to borrow one from my grand-ma. This was her most appropriate belt to go with this outfit. I tend to go for plain colours but I think it’s cute.

I really appreciate being able to wear this top as outwear, though I definitely think I will need a more discrete strapless bra to go with it in the future. I have seen that many brands are releasing or have released unpadded strapless this year. I think this would be the best option for this kind of top.
Empreinte Ashley topAnyway, I’ll enjoy it again this summer in the sunny and warm Montreal and under the beautiful Caribbean sun. These photos bring back great memories and I can’t wait to go back to my family later this month.

Sending all the positive vibes your way!

Yours truly,
Wen
