So I am trying to keep things interesting on this platform. I think bra reviews are sweet but really they can be pretty repetitive. I want to show you that there is much more to the lingerie industry. When I started my lingerie as outerwear series last year, I thought I would just do a handful of posts but now I am addicted and I just need to do more.

Fleur of England Desert rose silk babydollI have a rather classic style and if you pay attention, my color palette is basically black, beige/white and dusty pink. In winter I wear grey and navy as well. No, I am not too adventurous. Ahah! This even sounds a little boring now that I am writing it down. But somehow I am pretty satisfied with my wardrobe. It’s simple, I don’t need to think too much about what I am going to wear on a daily basis.
Everything is also very easy to match and never really goes out of fashion. I am just trying my best to not give into fast fashion while being as fashionable as I can.

The Desert rose silk babydoll

Today’s outfit is perfect for a classy Spring/Summer vibe. The Desert rose silk babydoll is really one of my favorite silk items in my wardrobe, mostly because the color is so me.
Fleur of England guipureNow my only issue with silk is that it wrinkles so fast! And it’s actually difficult to iron these creases because you need to set a very low temperature to avoid damaging the fabric. The editing of this picture highlights those creases as I believe they weren’t as visible in real life.
To be honest, I really need a new strapless bra. I hope I can buy an unpadded one this Summer because the one I am wearing in this picture is the Empreinte Melody, which is a bit bulky for this particular outfit. Plus it features lace, and that shows a little under the slip.
Anyway, I wasn’t about to let this prevent me from featuring this outfit. I don’t know what you guys think about it but I love it. While I am still not the best at modeling actual outfits, these photos are really showing the details of the piece.

I am wearing a size Medium in this piece and I believe it’s the right size for me. If I have the opportunity, I would like to photograph it as nightwear too.

Construction and quality

I can tell that this piece is of very good quality. The silk is almost pure (90%) and feels a bit heavier than my other silk loungewear pieces. The finishes are very neat. The French seams at the top of the garment look very elegant and show that this item production was not rushed. There is no raw seam in this garment which I appreciate, but then again, this is not the kind of seams you should expect in luxury pieces.
I love that this piece features seams around the bust area. Very often slips with no bust support don’t really flatter my braless bust as they don’t have enough space for it. These seams help to “shape” the bust area just slightly. While they don’t give any real support, they follow the curve of my breast in a way that is visually pleasing to me.
Fleur of England Desert rose silk babydollI really enjoy the guipure detailing at the back of the Desert Rose silk slip. This embroidery is so light and delicate. It’s impossible to wear any bra strap with such a piece actually. It would ruin the effect of this extremely thin straps. As a full-busted woman, I am not used to wearing clothes with very thin straps so it definitely feels different.

Putting the outfit together

You won’t be surprised to read that my skirt comes from an old Frank and Oak women collection. It’s made of Tencel and I love that it highlights my waist a little. I adore paper bag pants and skirt. I almost bought a pair of shorts this season. High-waisted bottoms have my preference. This one has a nice length because I can easily wear stockings during the colder seasons.
Desert rose silk babydollThe shoes are from Steve Madden and I bought them for my bachelor graduation two years ago. Not the most practical but definitely a good match with most of my wardrobe.
Overall, I really enjoyed styling and shooting this outfit. I hope you like it too!
The Desert Rose collection is really romantic and I wish I could wear the full lingerie set. The brand let me know that they are coming soon with full bust sizes though. I can’t wait to see what kind of treasures they’ll bring to the table next year.

Sending you all the good vibes!

Yours truly,
Wen

  1. In addition to being lovely to look at, the Fleur of England Desert rose silk slip looks like it must feel delightful to wear! It looks great paired with the black Frank and Oak skirt. Your winged eyeliner looks very pretty.
